Do you want to start building games? Or maybe you're already in the process but having a hard time? Trying to figure out just how to start a project the 'right way'? Or are you stuck with a hard problem and just get your game finished?
In the Game Architecture Course, I'll show you exactly how to do all of that and a whole lot more. You'll learn my process for building games quickly, getting them finished, and publishing out to Steam, ios, or whatever platforms you're aiming at.
There are ways you can build a game quickly, and even more ways to build a game at a snails pace. I'll show you what to avoid, what to focus on, and how to get right to the fun part of game development.
You'll learn the tricks to rapidly build your ideas so you can change things without fear. And when something breaks, you'll have the tools to figure out exactly why immediately.
There will be a ton of opportunity to bring those ideas too. The project for this course is an RPG with tactical elements, kind of like a scaled back Baulders Gate. You'll learn how to build all the systems and add your own content ideas. You can go scifi, fantasy, toony, or whatever style you like personally.
If you want to build video games, this is the easiest, fastest, and most effective way to do it!
Each lesson introduces new game specific design patterns that matter the most. You'll learn the patterns that make sense for video games, how to apply them, and what to watch out for and avoid!
You'll learn how to build systems from the ground up that can easily integrate into your own personal projects without making a mess.
The last portion of the course will teach you how to customize and finish your own game. You'll learn to add RPG elements like a shop and inventory quickly to any game. (or whatever systems you can imagine)

Jason has a way of explaining things that’s easy to understand and that makes it stick. His live Q&A sessions and the possibility to email questions when you get stuck is INVALUABLE. I started as an absolute beginner, having nada experience with programming, but now I feel confident I can build some awesome games.
Jason’s Unity 3D Masterclass taught me how to go from 0 to 60 in a couple months. I knew the very basics of Unity but nothing about scripting. He was knowledgeable, clear, available for questions and really took the time to help me until I was unstuck. Even now, I refer back to it to help me build current projects. I don’t think you’ll find a greater wealth of information anywhere else.
Coming from an art and design background, my early attempts with Unity were a struggle, but I now have the confidence and ability to develop better content in less time. It has absolutely been worth the time and I have every intention of going through the lessons again to ensure I caught everything.
Jason’s courses are really rich and easy to understand. He gave me self confidence to write code by myself from scratch and helps me a lot to find my way on game programming.

Through the course you’ll build an entire third person shooter full of RPG elements. You’ll be able to bring in your own art, add your own stories and more as we build out dialog systems, inventory, shops, saving and loading, level progression, npc AI, and of course combat! You’ll learn how to build all the systems from scratch and integrate them easily into an easy to use architecture.
Of course if you prefer not to type or just want a way to sanity check your copy, all the code and project files are available with the lessons. But if you want to add your own twist, quests, and fun adventure, you’ll have a ton of opportunity to do just that.
Not at all! Lessons can be competed whenever and wherever you like. If you’re available for live calls though, they’re available for you. Come bring your questions, problems, and more to the class and get help with whatever you need directly from me. It’s also a great opportunity to network with other students and make new contacts in the industry!
If you’re new to Unity, no problem! The course includes access to the Game Programmer Bootcamp which will take you through the basics up to the point where you can build your own game.
But if you’re already using Unity and understand the basics, the architecture course will take you to the next level. You’ll learn how to get past common problems and build games quickly from the ground up to be extensible, performant, and easy to build! (making the game fun is up to you though 🙂
If you know the basics but need a little help to get games done, or they’re just taking a long time.. This is the perfect place for you. We’ll be focusing on how to build games, get them done, and get them done quickly so you can release them on Steam, itch, ios, or wherever your heart desires 🙂
It happens to all of us! But one thing that makes this course very different from others is that when you’re stuck, you’ll get direct help from me. We’ll either hop on a call, get into zoom, or figure things out in email.
YES! Lots of them. I started in enterprise, went over to AAA game dev, worked on SOE MMOs for a long time. I also built a few ios games right when the iPhone came out, released a bunch of VR launch titles, and a lot more.
We’ll have 1 lesson per week, split into multiple sub-sections so you can easily get through it.
During the week we’ll have multiple live calls where you can ask questions and we’ll dive into deeper discussion. The calls are optional and the timeline for completing coursework is completely up to you.
By the end of the last lesson you should feel drastically more confident and be able to complete your own games.
Throughout my career I’ve bounced between game development and enterprise plenty myself. I like to bring the lessons of each into the other and really love to teach enterprise devs how to make their own games. If you’ve been wondering why some things seem more difficult than they should be.. Or what the right way to do things in a gamedev context are, this is the perfect place for you!
When we have extra time in the Q&A calls we often go over student projects, code, and other issues.
If you just want the one on one help with nobody else around I also offer hourly consulting here.
If you have questions about the course or anything else, I'm always available by email
